Dr Chris Long graduated from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and completed specialty anaesthesia training in Sydney, rotating from St George Hospital to St Vincent’s, Randwick Women’s, and Westmead Children’s Hospitals.
He undertook subspecialty cardiothoracic fellowships at Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge UK, and St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney where he gained extensive experience in complex cardiothoracic surgery including transplant and anaesthesia for patients with end-stage heart and lung failure.
He holds public appointments at Royal Prince Alfred and St George Hospitals, as well as numerous private networks including St George Private, St Vincent’s Private, Hurstville Private, and Macquarie University Hospital. He has a wide range of interests including cardiothoracic surgery, echocardiography, regional anaesthesia, general surgery, plastics, obstetrics, orthopaedics and trauma.
He is an associate conjoint lecturer at UNSW and has examined for the final phase biomedical exam and taught anatomy through the ANZCA network. He is also an accredited simulation instructor through the Australian Resuscitation Council and teaches advanced life support and resuscitation to other critical care specialists.
