Dr Stephen Lightfoot is a specialist anaesthetist who completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney before training in anaesthesia at the Prince of Wales and St George Hospitals in Sydney.

His clinical practice includes anaesthesia for bariatric, shoulder, hand, plastic, and gynaecological surgery. He has a particular expertise in ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia, especially nerve blocks for shoulder and hand surgery, providing safe anaesthesia for upper limb surgery whilst minimising post operative pain.

Beyond medicine, Dr Lightfoot has a long-standing passion for the Australian environment. He completed a Master of Environmental Management at UNSW in 2006 and has served on the Council of the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) for a total of 13 years. He is currently a member of the ACF Board and serves as a Vice President. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Bringing together his medical expertise and environmental commitment, Dr Lightfoot has written opinion pieces for a variety of publications and published in the British Journal of Anaesthesia on the links between health and the environment. He continues to advocate for sustainable healthcare, working to reduce the environmental impact of medical practice while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
