Dr DeSouza obtained his medical degree from the University of Sydney, and completed anaesthetic training at St. George hospital. He worked at the Liver Transplant Unit in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and was an attending Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist at the University of Washington Medical Center.

His current interests include cardiothoracic anaesthesia, perioperative transoesphageal echocardiography, anaesthesia for liver surgery, and sedation for medical procedures.
